Default The official "how to kick ass" tactics thread

Right, so post any cool tactics or combat tips you discover here. Potions that work well, spell combinations that compliment each other. Anything you think will help your fellow Grey Wardens defeat the blight!

One i learned from Lacuna: If your mage casts cone of cold and freezes the enemy, have your rogue or any other party member with a guaranteed crit attack hit them. They will shatter. Insta-kill

I after they freeze with CoC (ha ha... dirty word) I go into stealth with my rogue and attack again. This helps for a better chance at a crit.

that Freeza wave is really useful, makes all the battles pretty easy if the enemies fail the checks and gets frozen with a chance of getting shattered, plus it gives you time to setup the battlefield.

Make sure, you have a good healer and configure your characters tactic slots because again the game becomes alot easier.

configure the tactics to make your guys use atks with status abilities all the time to get knock downs and stuns, again the game becomes really easy lol

Keep switching between your characters, the only time you can just use your main in battles is when you play on easy ( no skill, tactics required :P)

    Arcane Warrior ftw :P

I can't decide on my party setup. Wynne is a great healer, but she takes up a slot cooler chars can use.

What party setup do you guys use the most? Maybe I can have Morrigan heal instead of Wynne?

Party selection is always a *****...
    I can't decide.
I've currently got Morrigan, the female priests rouge and the sarcastic guy you start with

Gotta rock 2 warriors, an archer and a mage.

Also go into the codexs - every time you unlock a dealy combo, it will be put in here, Like The ice cone, with a critical stryke,
Or some of the others, nice touch.

I play with mky main character as a mage soi will tun in freeze a few enemies for my rouge and tank to clean up, then it is easy, except when you are surrounded.

A bit off topic, but is this game awesome? I'm getting it Monday-Tuesday and I just wondered if it's as good as the reviews say

Nice thread guys - I started the game on easy coz I was very intimidated by this style of Bioware tactical part-based RPG, I didn't play Baldurs Gate, only Icewind Dale, KOTOR and NW2 and I wasn't very good at any of them except KOTOR . I mainly battle with my main man, but I do switch to a mage to use the freeze cone and what not and to heal.

I haven't dared fiddle with the tactics yet - it looks headache inducing! I've only played for about 2 hours so far so as I get better and more use to the combat I'll increase the difficulty (can you do that mid-game BTW?).

you can increase the difficulty mid game.... but more importantly decrease it mid game as well This game gets seriously frustrating at higher difficulty settings.. I've already had to adjust mine.. some of the battles are epic.. but way to frustrating..

I reckon the level scaling is abit **** at some parts of the game depending on your level, also I dont see the need to have another character with the same class as you in the party unless its a mage, o and Shale Ownz :P, hes 1 of the best characters in the game for tanking and building up the agro for your party.
