I'm sure we were all there once upon a time. He feels bad now but it will go away in time. When he's ready to move on, then he will move on. That's the way life is. Meanwhile, just include him in whatever you do.

My suggestions
Make sure that he is not in contact with her at all, it just prolongs the pain. Also ensure that all things that remind him of her are taken away (I know this could be everything but do your best - sentimental things)
He needs a clean break - short term pain, long term gain

Best way to get over someone, is to get on top of another

I went through something similar with one of my friends recently, but not as severe. Just give him time to get over it, but don't let him mope about it. He is gonna need time to get over it, but he doesn't have to be sad during that time. Take him out as a bro just for a good night. Let the aim of getting girls take a back seat for a few weeks while he starts to feel better. Telling him 'get over her' or the likes is not going to help him at all. Just be there for him. If he gets sad, don't tell him to stop, speak to him about what exactly is making him sad. He will feel, better for it and you will grow closer as friends.
