Quote interesting that you say that, considering in the tablet market the iPad is technically the Wii U.
It's the lesser specced compared to all the other tablets, and it's the quality of the product itself as well as it's Operating System & Apps that make the difference.
The Wii U could manage to do exactly the same thing, and also sell millions like the iPad does even if it's a technically inferior product on paper.
Nobody thought the Wii was a contender...and just look what happened there.
Don't assume that your own point of view is the same as that of the entire market. Hardcore gamers are in fact few and far between.

According to Major Nelson, there will definitely not be new hardware announced at E3. Could be a ruse of course.
[Source]To all who have been speculating that the next-gen Xbox will be announced this year at E3… stop. Major Nelson has said via Twitter: “FYI: We don’t plan on discussing new #Xbox hardware at #E3 this year”.
That’s not to say that there won’t be a new console in 2013, it’s just that Microsoft plans to focus on the Xbox 360 this year – publicly at least.
In an article on Bloomsberg (referred to by Major Nelson in his tweet), David Dennis – a company spokesman – said via an email statement:
“There will be no talk of new Xbox hardware at E3 or anytime soon. For us, 2012 is all about Xbox 360.”

I honestly do not believe that the Wii U will be as big a success as Nintendo believes it will.
I bet not a single member of this community plans on buying one.
I for one see absolutely no reason to get one. Why would I buy a console which is less (or even equal if it is) powerful than the 2 consoles I already have? Because of the console exclusives? You mean Mario or Zelda cause that’s how far Nintendo’s exclusives go.
If I am playing a game at home I want to play it on my 46” TV, not some small tablet with a screen that’s probably going to be lower res than the new iPad’s Retina Display screen?
I do own a Wii and it had more appeal to me than this Wii U has.
Again, MS and Sony do not consider the Wii U a threat. If they did, then they would have announced their next gen consoles already.
Nintendo has no choice but to release a new console. I remember when my bro was still at Musica. Their Wii console sales dropped to almost nothing once Kinnect came out.

The Wii has a big user base now. So i think the Wii U will sell like hot cakes, with a big user base and the chance to play Mario, Metroid, Zelda in "HD" and that tablet gimmick thing.
Will i get the Wii U, no. I like the progression of visuals / graphics and A.I in games. I don't want to play games that looks like it came out 4 years ago.
Well the Wii U should get 2 years to be sub par on the current "next" gen consoles. Then price cut when next gen consoles comes out. 3 years later, bam, sub par again with a new console. Metroid should be looking real good by then.
Just look at how well that outdated piece of **** Cod game sells. Bigger and better is not always the answer. It sould be interesting to see how this Wii U will sell, seeing as the masses are into their tablets now.
For the hardcore gamer i would say that the Wii/Wii U is the console to go along side your main console and not to be the main console.Last edited by RyanZa; 04-25-2012 at 10:49 PM.

The Wii was also less powerful than the Ps360 and we all know that it destroyed both in sales.
Look they don't have to say "Here's your ps4 and 720". But what would be nice is if they show some sort of tech demo that would give us an idea what the next gen consoles would be capable of.

Well maybe I'm wrong.

We forgot about Apple. Apple is hurting Nintendo (and Sony) badly in the handheld market...which is largely the same as the Wii market.
